My Morning Run. Yucky Fifteen.

It was already in the 70s and muggy by the time I left the house a little after 5:00 a.m. Two miles out of town, I cut a corner to avoid an on coming car and twisted my ankle leaving me to stumble with out stretched arms alongside the car. I'm sure they had a good laugh but I didn't fall.

It's hard to see but that's a shark in the middle of a large field. It gets decorated throughout the year.

Today is was dressed up as an EIU football player which was a good omen. Later than night EIU beat San Diego State 40-19! San Diego won the Mountain West last year, the same conference USU became a member of this year.

An intersection west of town that I've run through many times. The horses didn't cause me to trip or any thing which was good because at this point, I doubt I would have been able to stay upright let alone get back up after the fall.

Between my aching ankle (I had forgotten about twisting it early in the run and couldn't figure out why it hurt until the fog cleared and remembered my mishap) and the on coming heat, I called it quits after 15 miles. It was my last long run prior before the Top of Utah marathon and would have liked to run longer but I was never one to be all that serious about my training schedule.

Any dew point above 65 is a bad dew point. 73 is not terrible but it's not great.

My post-run sweat ran required me to "cool down" on the deck for a few minutes. This was my view as I looked skyward from my chair. Once the sweating slowed down, I showered and sat on the couch and watched college football until bedtime.

My Morning Run. It's a Miracle.

"Holy Ghost Miracle Festival"
I'm tempted to attend to see the miracles. Water to wine? Walking on water? Having normal people show up?

The church sponsoring the festival is much closer to our home and by all accounts appears to be more exciting.

Just corn and then trees and then sky.

My Morning Run. Make Mine a 20.

This was from an earlier run in the week but I did see three deer this morning but they were even further away than this deer so I didn't stop to take a picture.

Morning fog clearing as the sun rises.
Morning

Midwesterners store their water up in the air.

Charleston and Mattoon have a combined fireworks show at the airport ever Independence Day. We used to watch fireworks from this spot but the fence ruins the view. Darn terrorist.

I find it comforting to run past the hospital...just in case.

Mile 15 aid station, Huck's "White Trash" Convenience Store. This is the rear entrance. To the right is the drive-up window so you can buy cigarettes without getting out of the car. But, the store is a block off the jogging/biking trail and they do sell Powerade and Gatorade.

When I reached Stone Drive, I lost all motivation. I wonder why?

And there you have it.

You Really Should Be More Careful Family Fun Run

Tom's Rock, Run and Ride Race had to be cancelled so we decided to hold our own family fun run to fill the void and provide a few laughs.

Ready to run/ride/walk/drive but mostly laugh.

Bill explaining to his daughters why this family is so crazy....crazy fun, that is.

Cute.

The immediate famdamily.

Polly off to a fast start

Erin waiting on dad....or is that Buddy Hackett in the hat?

The Island Market aid station.

I hope the Island Market didn't mind.

Finish line at the Twin Pine Ranch.

There are a few more photos at http://emmettville.blogspot.com/2013/08/you-really-should-be-more-careful-25.html and a whole lot more on family Facebook pages.

My Morning Run. Catch the Sun.

On Madison Street. I didn't have a quarter plus they weren't open.

Sunrise over EIU Intramural Fields.

This is from yesterday. I was texting back and forth with Tom during the final stage of the Tour of Utah. This is how the texting conversation ended. It made me laugh so hard I think I separate my C5 and C6 vertebrae!

My Morning Run. Uncomfortable.

Today's 18 mile run was the most uncomfortable run ever. Not painful but definitely uncomfortable. For one, I have rashes on my legs and left arm. Poison something in our yard got me a few weeks a ago. I only ran once last week while I got over the worst of it. That's the other problem. I tried to run 20 miles after a week of running only 4 total miles, last Saturday in Huntsville. This week I ran 5 and 4 miles on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, but that did little to reserve the inactivity from the prior week. Third, my throat was tight Wednesday and Thursday meaning there was something in the air. Breathing wasn't a problem but I did feel lethargic from the beginning. Fourth, I decided to run in brand new shoes which were great for the first 14 miles but then my toes began to hurt. And, finally, my playlist became stall around mile 10. I hate it when that happens.

So with all that my 20 mile run became 18 which should have been okay but I was a hundred times more tired than after my 18 mile run only two weeks ago. I ran all 18 miles on the bike trail and didn't want to take any more pictures of that but I did snap one photo, that of a turkey buzzard patiently waiting atop a utility pole waiting for me to drop. Well, I showed that bird and didn't drop until  I got home, safely indoors.

My Morning Run. Home

It's not stunningly beautiful but I love running home to this house.

Also, it's alway fun to return to first home to run the Top of Utah marathon.

And, the home of homes; Twin Pine Ranch.

Finally, "Feels Like Home" by Randy Newman dedicated to Lesa who makes anywhere with her feel like home to me.

Something in your eyes
Makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself
In your heart

Something in your voice
Makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling will last
The rest of my life

If you knew
How lonely my life has been
And how low i've felt for so long
If you knew
I wanted someone to come along
And change my world
The way you've done

It feels like home
Feels like home to me
Feels like i'm on my way back
Where i come from
Feels like home
Feels like home to me
Feels like i'm on my wayback
Where i'm from

With your embrace
Down a long dark street
And a sigh of wind in the night
It's alright
Cause i have you here with me
And I can almost see
The dark feels light

If you knew
How much this moment means to me
Ad how long i've waited for your touch
I you knew
I wanted someone to come along
I never thought i'd love anyone
So much

Feels like home
Feels like home to me
Feels like i'm on my way to where i come from
Feels like home to me
Feels like home to me
Feels like i'm all the way back where i come from
Feels like i'm on my way back to where i belong

My Morning Run. Arizona or Alabama?

I found this trail and went for a run over the weekend.

The trail lead me to this path.

"Rolands Cajun Catering". Who would ever name their son Roland?
